Promotional Performances

We have been asked about promotional gigs for pop music artists. Today, whether you are signed or indie, you have to do more than just offer your tunes for sale on the web and perform at local clubs. You have to get noticed by both the media and the music industry. One effective way to do that is to perform at places where the real decision makers will pay attention. Playing at the local mall in your home town probably won't accomplish that. Like any other new business, music requires an initial investment. Promotional performances and hiring an established publicist are part of that. Be sure to have the show professionally video taped for use on the web, and in cross promotions. Proper accommodation, and hospitality for the media must also be provided. Remember, without media coverage the event will not be effective. Promotional performances in strategic places are part of the game for every successful artist in the music biz. The beginners and the established stars all do them. Cece Vance ~ Publicist
